California Veterinary Medical Association

As the largest state veterinary medical association in the nation with more than 6,300 members, the California Veterinary Medical Association is pleased to welcome you to its website.
 
Mission:
 
The California Veterinary Medical Association is committed to serving our membership and community through innovative leadership and to improving animal and human health in an ethically and socially responsible manner.
 
Goals:
 
To enhance the business, professional, personal and leadership growth of the membership.
 
To be fiscally responsible and financially secure.
 
To be vocal advocates for animals and the profession.
 
To be the respected source of pertinent information for members and the public.
 
Leadership:
 
CVMA's 15-member Board of Governors sets the policy and vision for the association and is fiscally responsible for its actions.
 
The House of Delegates, an advisory body to the Board of Governors, is composed of delegates from 34 constituent associations throughout California.
 
Staff:
 
The CVMA staff is responsible for the daily operations of the association. It implements CVMA's vision and mission and acts as a resource of support and information for its members.
 
History:
 
Founded in 1888, the CVMA was the first veterinary association west of the Mississippi River. Its leaders were among the pioneers of modern veterinary medicine and were instrumental in the establishment of the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of California, Davis.
 
Headquartered in Sacramento, California, the CVMA represents all segments of the veterinary profession.
